How to Sync Outlook & Hotmail

Updated February 21, 2017

Outlook can be synced with Hotmail if you download and install the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector. This will enable a Hotmail account for use within the Outlook program. Syncing your e-mail allows you to view your Hotmail inbox, various contacts and your calendar, without the use of a Web browser. However, you will first need to have an active Hotmail account that you can use.

Click on the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector link. (See Resources.) This take you to the Microsoft Download Center.

Click the "Download" button and then save the file to your desktop. Double-click the file to install the program.

Double-click the Microsoft Outlook icon to open the program. A dialogue box will appear on the screen.

Enter your Hotmail e-mail address and your password. You may also enter a name to appear in the inbox for the receiver.

Click the "OK" button to continue. You will see your Hotmail account listed in the Navigation Pane on the left side of the window.

Click the "Send/Receive" button to sync your Hotmail account with Outlook.

Hotmail is now referred to as Windows Live Hotmail.
