How do I find hidden text in a picture?

Updated February 21, 2017

If you want to hide some files, but you do not want to go through the hassle of encrypting the files, you can hide them in a JPEG image. If you do this, or if you believe another person has done this, you can extract the files and see the text. You will just need to know which JPEG image to look into as there may be many images to go through.

Right click on the .JPEG image that you think is storing the hidden text and choose "open with." In the pop-up menu, choose WinRAR.

Extract the hidden files using WinRAR.

Change the extension of the image from .JPG to .RAR for an alternate way to extract the text. Once the extension is changed you can extract the files using WinRAR. Double click on the icon and WinRar will open and you can extract the files to a folder of your choosing. After WinRAR has extracted the files you can edit or save them like any other file.
