How to Connect a Laptop to a LG TV

Updated April 17, 2017

While laptops are essential for computing on the move, their focus on portability means other design aspects suffer. Viewing movies or photo collections saved on your laptop can be hampered by the small screen size. To overcome this limitation, you can view the movie or photos from the laptop on your LG TV. There is a simple method of connecting the laptop to the LG TV using a 15-pin VGA cable and audio cables.

Turn off both the laptop and the LG TV. Locate the 15-pin VGA ports on both devices.

Plug one end of the VGA cable into the laptop port, the other into the LG TV.

Insert the single plug end of the audio cable into the "Headphone" socket on the laptop. The red and white plugs at the other end plug into the corresponding red and white sockets on the back of the LG TV.

Switch on the laptop and the LG TV. Select "PC" on your remote. The laptop screen will now be displayed on the LG TV.
