The Norton Safe Web tool is an application for your computer's Internet browser that scans a website to determine its safety. Unsafe websites are those that download spyware to your computer with the intent to store information about your browsing habits. While Norton Safe Web comes bundled with Norton Internet Security, you can also install Norton Safe Web Lite, the free version of the software. To download the free version of the application, you must uninstall Norton Internet Security, which also removes the original Safe Web, according to the official Symantec website.
Select the Start icon on your desktop screen. Select "Control Panel," located on the right side of the pop-up list.
Click the "Programs" link. Click "Uninstall a Program" beneath "Programs and Features."
Select "Norton Internet Security" in the list of programs. Click the "Uninstall" button located above the "Name" column.
Click the "Continue" button. Enter your system administrator password when prompted. Click the "Continue" button to proceed with the uninstallation process.
Click the "Finish" button to exit the uninstallation wizard on your computer. Click the "Restart Now" button to restart your computer. Once the Internet Security suite is removed from your computer, you are vulnerable to attacks, according to the official Symantec website.
