One of the biggest complaints about "Dead Space" for the PC is the lag time between the mouse and the on-screen actions. The sluggish behaviour can be blamed on the vertical synchronisation (v-sync), which locks your computer's frames per second (FPS) rate and causes a slight delay between the mouse and computer. Disabling v-sync should correct your mouse issues.

Instructions

Disable V-Sync Using Intel Graphics Card

  1. 1

Right-click on an empty part of your desktop screen. Scroll down and select "Graphics Properties."

  2. 2

Click "3-D Settings" in the "Intel Graphics Media" window.

  3. 3

Click on the "Value" box next to "Asynchronous Flip" and select "Off" from the drop-down menu. Hit "OK" to shut v-sync off. The "Dead Space" mouse issues should now be corrected.

Disable V-Sync Using NVidia Graphics Card

  1. 1

Right-click on an empty part of your desktop and select "NVidia Control Panel."

  2. 2

Click "Advanced Settings," then click "Manage 3-D Settings."

  3. 3

Click "Global Settings." Find the "Vertical Synchronization" option and slide the button to "Off." Hit "OK" and v-sync will be shut off.

Tips and warnings

  • If you find that turning v-sync off hasn't corrected the issues, visit your graphics card manufacturer's site to download the latest drivers, then try shutting v-sync off again.
