Many HP Deskjet printer owners aren't aware of the versatility of the printer. Your HP printer has the ability to print on many different sized papers, not just standard printer paper. This versatility allows you to customise what you’re making. You can add special notes and photos. You can send postcards for family vacation updates and holidays or just to keep in touch with your friends and family.

Things you need

  • Blank 4-inch by 6-inch note cards/photo paper
  • Microsoft Word

    Double-click the “Word” shortcut icon on your desktop to open a blank document.

    Click “File” and choose “Page Setup” from the options. Click the “Paper” tab and then select the option for 4-inch by 6-inch.

    Design your postcard on the document page, inserting clip art, photos and/or text as desired.

    Click “File” and select “Print.” From this window, make sure the printer name is listed as your HP Deskjet model and then click the “Properties” box.

    Choose your desired printing shortcut option (Photo Printing is recommended). Click the section for paper sizes and click the 4-inch by 6-inch paper size. Click “OK” to return to the print box.

    Place your blank note card or photo paper into the paper tray with the 6-inch edge against the right side, under the guide.

    Slide the width guide over against the right side of the paper. When finished, click “OK” from the Print box.

  • You can also download postcard templates directly from the Microsoft Office website instead of creating a postcard from scratch.
