A paper piping bag is used to decorate cakes, cookies, cupcakes and pastries. Fill the bag half full of icing or chocolate and begin creating borders, designs or greetings on your baked goods. You can attach a piping nozzle to the bag to create a variety of designs or use the bag without a nozzle to create thin, straight lines with your icing.
Cut a 35 by 35 cm (14 by 14 inch) square of grease-resistant paper, such as parchment paper, baking paper or waxed paper.
Fold the paper in half on the diagonal to form a triangle. Cut along the fold line to get two separate triangles.
Use one triangle, and roll it into a cone. The point of the cone should be located at the midpoint of the long side of the triangle.
Fold the top edge of the cone over a couple of times as if you were rolling up a sleeve. This will secure the edges and help keep the cone from unrolling.
Cut 6 mm (1/4 inch) off the point of the cone to form an opening. Insert a decorator tip into the cone for decorative piping designs. To use it without a decorator tip, cut 3 mm (1/8 inch) off the point of the cone for piping a thin line of icing.
