The Titanic was a luxury ship created to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Great Britain to New York, N.Y. This British ship was supposed to be an unsinkable masterpiece of engineering, but, after a disastrous accident, sank to the bottom of the Atlantic on the night between the 14th and 15th of April, 1912. Because of the infamous history surrounding the Titanic, it is a very popular ship that many people like to replicate in models. You can easily make a small Titanic replica model using only a thick wooden block.

Things you need
- One 12-by-6-by-4-inch wooden block
- Mitre saw
- Black paint
- White paint
- Orange paint
- Thin paintbrush
Using the mitre saw, cut a thick wooden block so that it is 12 inches long by 6 inches wide by 4 inches thick. It doesn't matter what type of wood you use for this project.
Label one of the 12-inch by 4-inch faces of the block "top" and the face opposite this face "bottom." Label one of the 6-inch by 4-inch faces "front" and the face opposite this face "back." Label the two 12-inch by 6-inch faces "side."
Draw a horizontal line across the centre of one of the side faces of the block, three inches from the top or bottom edge. This line should go from the front to the back edge. Then draw a vertical line from the horizontal line down to the bottom edge, one inch from the front edge and repeat on the opposite side.
Draw a diagonal line from the intersection of the front edge of the block and the horizontal line down to the intersection of the bottom edge of the block and the vertical line. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
Cut along the two diagonal lines on the front and back of the block. This will create the front and back portion of the hull of the Titanic replica.
Draw a vertical line from the horizontal line up to the top edge of the block, two inches from the front of the block. Repeat on the opposite side of the block.
Cut along the top vertical lines down to the horizontal line, and then along the horizontal line into the vertical line. Repeat on the opposite side of the block. This will create the front and back decks of the Titanic replica.
Draw a horizontal line across the top of the block, on the same side as all the drawing was done. This line should be one- and one-half inches from the top edge of the block and one- and one-half inches from the first horizontal line drawn.
Draw a vertical line half an inch from the new top-front edge of the top part of the block from the top edge of the block to the horizontal line. Repeat on the opposite side of the block.
Cut along the vertical line down to the horizontal line and then along the horizontal line to the vertical line. Repeat on the opposite side of the block.
Draw six vertical lines in the space left at the very top of the block between the second horizontal line and the top edge of the block. Each line should be one inch apart from each other.
Draw a small "x" in the one-inch space between the first two vertical lines and the last two vertical lines. Then draw a "c" in the one-inch space between the next two lines of either side of the block. Then draw an "x" in the one-inch space between the next two lines of either side of the block. Finally, draw a "c" in the one-inch space at the centre of the block.
Cut out all the spaces where a c was drawn using a jigsaw. The spaces with an "x" will be the four smokestacks of the Titanic replica.
Paint the hull of the Titanic replica black, the top part of the replica white, and the four smokestacks orange. Paint the top tip of each of the smokestacks black.
Paint the word "Titanic" onto the back of the replica using a thin paintbrush and white paint.
