How to Reset a Brinks Panel

Written by Lynn Rademacher

Brinks Security Systems are designed to provide security to homeowners. The panel that is installed near the door is the control center of the system. This panel is programmed to recognize when a secured zone of the home has been compromised. It is important to know how to reset the panel of a Brinks Security System as false alarms will occur. Resetting the panel allows the system to clear any false alarm codes and rearm the security system.

Instructions

Things you need

  • Access code

    False Alarm

  1. 1

Enter the user code that was set at the time the Brinks Security System was installed. Use the keypad on the Brinks panel to enter the code.

  2. 2

Press the "Cancel" button immediately following the code. This will send a message to the Brinks monitoring center that the last signal sent to them was a false alarm.

  3. 3

Listen for the keypad to beep for one second. This is the acknowledgment of the system that the alarm was cancelled. The Brinks monitoring system will not call to confirm the alarm cancellation.

    Resetting Panel After Owner's Absence

  1. 1

Enter the user code if, upon returning to the house, the red ON light is flashing. The code will turn the system off and the panel will beep; indicating that it has been reset.

  2. 2

Watch for the zone light where the alarm was triggered to turn off. It will blink for 2 seconds after the user code is entered. If the light doesn't stop blinking something may still be causing the light to blink and may require further investigation.

  3. 3

Call Brink's Customer Service to find out what caused the alarm to activate.
