The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) is similar to other seventh-generation consoles in that it can play the games of the systems that preceded it. The PS3 can play both PlayStation 1 (PS1) and PlayStation 2(PS2) games. However, the PS2 games cannot be played from a PS2 disc. They must be downloaded from the PlayStation Store and installed on the PS3's hard drive. With enough funds, downloading these PS2 games from the PlayStation Store is an easy process.
