When your window won't go up or if you want to replace a door speaker in your Volkswagen vehicle, you will need to properly remove the door panel. The door panels on Volkswagen vehicles are fairly standard; however, there are small tabs that hold the panels on that must be pulled out with a special tool for later reinstallation. You can purchase a door panel removal tool from any automotive parts store. Removing your Volkswagen door panel will take less than a half hour.

  1. 1

Open the car door on your Volkswagen that you want to remove the door panel from.

  2. 2

Slide a flat head screwdriver between the control panel for the windows and locks and the door panel. Pry it up and free it from the door panel. Squeeze the electrical connector with your fingers that is plugged into the bottom of the control panel.

  3. 3

Pull the door handle that opens the car door from the inside. Locate the Phillips head screw behind the handle and remove it with a Phillips head screwdriver.

  4. 4

Unscrew the bolt under the handle that closes the car door; use the appropriate-sized socket to remove the bolt.

  5. 5

Slide the thin door panel removal tool between a bottom corner of the door and the door panel. Pull out on the tool to pop open the tabs holding the door panel in place. Do this around the entire outside edge of the door panel until the door panel comes off.
