How to Draw Naruto Style Eyes

Just as each artist has a unique style, most anime or manga characters have their own distinct look. The characters from the popular anime "Naruto" tend towards a slightly more realistic look, as opposed to the big eyes/small mouth look of something like "Sailor Moon." While both styles have their appeal, the "Naruto" eyes are a little less cartoony, and can thus be a little more challenging to draw.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Draw a square where the eye will be.

  2. 2

Round the edges of the square, particularly the upper side of what will be the inner eye. Leave blank the side of the square closest to the nose.

  3. 3

Tilt the outer corner of the upper eye into a slight point. The square is just a guideline; your final shape will be slightly more oval.

  4. 4

Draw a circle within your square to represent the iris and position it in the direction you want the character to be looking. It should be big enough to fill most of the blank space within the eye, but should touch only one or two of your three lines.

  5. 5

Draw a smaller, opaque circle within the first circle. This will be the pupil.

  6. 6

Make another small, clear circle at the top left of the iris, and a slightly more oval shape at the bottom left. These little shapes represent the reflection of light in the character's eye, and are usually positioned at about 11 and five if the eye were a clock.
