Vans brand shoes are made of canvas or suede and come with or without laces and in a variety of styles and colours. The company has been in business since 1966 and offers men's, women's and children's shoes, as well as other apparel and accessories. Vans shoes come in custom, classic and new fashions and can be cleaned with a few simple techniques.

Remove the laces from the shoes before cleaning. Dirty shoe laces can be washed in the washing machine on a regular setting with mild detergent and either air-dried or dried in a low setting in the clothes dryer.

Apply a small amount of suede cleaner on a soft clean cloth and wipe in circular motions on the shoe. Use the smallest possible amount of cleaner so as not to saturate the fabric.

Allow to air-dry and then brush the fabric with a small, soft-bristled brush to restore the texture of the suede. Replace the laces in the shoes.

Remove the laces and clean as described in Step 1 above. Clean canvas shoes by filling a small bowl with warm water and a drop or two of dish-washing detergent. Dip a small clean cloth in the liquid and then wipe in a circular motion on the shoes. This will remove most of the dirt and stains.

If the spot-washing method did not clean the shoes to your satisfaction, wash the shoes in the washing machine on the gentle cycle with a gentle detergent such as baby detergent or a detergent meant for delicates, such as Woolite.

Air-dry the shoes until they are completely dry and then tumble them in the dryer for five minutes on a low setting to soften the fabric.

Alternatively, set a drying rack in the clothes dryer if you wish to dry the shoes in the dryer. Set the dryer on a low setting for delicate items and monitor the shoes as they dry. Dry them until still slightly damp and then remove them from the dryer to finish air-drying to prevent shrinkage. Replace the laces in the shoes.
