Occasionally TomTom will release software patches for all of their GPS ("global positioning system") units. These patches can include new and updated road maps, updated information about points of interest like gas stations and hotels, as well as general software updates that make the unit function more smoothly. If you want to patch your TomTom One, you simply need to connect it to your computer and download the appropriate update.

- TomTom Home software
Make sure the TomTom Home software is downloaded and installed on your personal computer. If you have not download and installed TomTom Home, you can do so by clicking on the link in the References section.
Connect your TomTom One to a USB port on your personal computer's case using the computer cord that came with the device.
Open TomTom Home on your computer.
Click "Update My Device." TomTom Home will then connect to the Internet and check for any software patches that are available for your TomTom One. If any are available, they will be downloaded and installed immediately. Do not disconnect your TomTom One from your computer during this process.
