The wireless switch on a Dell Latitude D410 laptop controls the ability of the wireless card to communicate with wireless networks. While some laptops have a dedicated switch, the D410 uses the combination "FN"+"F2" keys to perform this function. Turning off the wireless connection using this switch allows the laptop to retain more battery life for situations where wireless connectivity is not needed.

    Reboot your computer and press the F2 key to enter into the laptop set-up configuration screen.

    Using the down arrow key on your keyboard, select the "Wireless" option with the cursor and press Enter.
