Crafts can help pass the time on those boring rainy days when you are stuck inside while getting your artistic juices flowing. Many craft projects also let you reuse an item that you normally would have thrown away. Pop bottles are a common item that could be put to better use in crafts instead of being thrown out.
- Skill level:
- Moderately Easy
Things you need
- 2-liter pop bottle
- Permanent marker
Peel the label off a clean, empty 2-liter pop bottle. Let the bottle soak in warm, soapy water for a few hours if the label will not easily peel off.
Cut off the bottom of the pop bottle with a pair of scissors.
Draw an eye with a permanent marker close to the opening of the bottle on the outside. You can also use stickers for the eyes. Draw the fins and scales as well.
Paint the bottle to colour and design your fish. Pour paint into a dish and dip a sponge into the paint. Dab throughout the inside of the bottle with the sponge. Start near the eye and work down. Let the paint dry and repeat with a different colour until you achieve the desired effect.
Allow the bottle to dry completely.
Make a hole in the bottle using a knife or scissors and feed a piece of string through the hole.
Fold together the middle of the fish and staple together.
Cut the shape for the tail at the bottom of the fish.
Hang your pop bottle fish by the string.
