How to Copy onto a Memory Stick

Updated April 17, 2017

A memory stick, much like an SD card or flash drive, is a type of portable storage in which files can be transferred to and from a computer. As long as your computer has a slot for inserting memory sticks, transferring files is an easy process.

Insert the memory stick into your computer's memory stick slot. If your PC has an SD card slot, it likely will accept memory sticks as well

Choose the "Open Folder To View Files" option in the AutoPlay menu that pops up when your computer detects the memory stick. If this window does not open, click "My Computer" from the Start menu, then double-click the memory stick icon.

Drag the files you want to transfer into the memory stick window. Close the window when you are finished and remove the memory stick from your computer.

If your computer does not have a memory card slot, purchase an adaptor that can be inserted into a USB port. Information on these adaptors is in the Resources section.
