To prevent others from accessing your iPhone, you can create a personal identification number and lock your phone so that only those with the PIN can use it. While this is a great feature for those concerned about privacy, it can be a nuisance. Each time you turn on your phone, you must enter your SIM PIN. Also, in the event that you enter the wrong PIN three times, you may need to enter a Personal Unlocking Key to access your cell phone. Disabling the feature is relatively easy.

Tips and warnings

  • Keep in mind that while the SIM PIN feature offers a degree of security, since the only time you must enter it is when you turn your phone on, it isn't as secure as using the pass code lock found under the general settings. The pass code lock requires that you input a pass code every time your iPhone locks.
