How to Remove the Cassette Player in a Nissan Primera

Updated March 23, 2017

The Nissan Primera is a sedan sold in the United Kingdom. It was sold in the United States (rebadged as the Infiniti G20) until 2002. Older Primera models may be equipped with a cassette player. To upgrade the stereo and replace the cassette player with a CD player, the first step is to remove the old cassette player. The Primera's simple dash set-up makes this a fairly simple task. The process is the same for all Nissan Primeras built between 1990 and 1999.

Unhook the negative (-) battery cable with your pliers.

Remove the two screws beneath the air conditioning control panel (one screw on each corner of the panel).

Pull the plastic radio panel away from the cassette player and the air conditioning controls. The panel should come off easily; however, you can use a trim panel tool if you have trouble.

Remove the four radio screws (one at each corner of the radio). Pull the radio out of the dash.

Unplug the factory harness and antenna lead.
