Although most televisions produced now days have adequte speaker systems, the sound quality isn't incredibly amazing and it doesn't provide the lower rumblings of a bass subwoofer. However, if you are looking to add some additional sound quality to your television without purchasing an entire sound system you can pick up a soundbar. A soundbar is a thin speaker that can be placed onto of a television, giving it much more audio clarity. Most soundbars also come with a subwoofer to increase the low tones of your television audio.

  1. 1

Connect the soundbar to the audio output of your television. There is typically going to be the red and white cables of an RCA connection coming out of the soundbar. This are plugged into the "Out" port of the television

  2. 2

Set the soundbar ontop of the television. If you have a flatscreen plasma or LCD it may be to thin to attach the speaker to. If this is the case, the speaker may have adjustable clamps on the device that clamp down onto the top of the television. However, if there are no clamps you either need to place the soundbar below the television or somewhere on the TV stand.

  3. 3

Connect the soundbar to the subwoofer (if there is one). There is a third cable that runs from the soundbar and plugs into the back of the subwoofer.

  4. 4

Position the subwoofer down on the ground. Keeping it on the TV stand is only going to produce a rattling sound and interrupt your viewing experience.

  5. 5

Power on the soundbar. There is either going to be a power button on the actual soundbar or on the subwoofer itself.
