Vans, a company that presented its first "slip-on" shoe in 1979, creates clothing and shoes for skaters, surfers, teens, adults and pretty-much everyone. Not only do they have dozens of designs available in stores throughout the globe, but their website also offers a way for you to customise your own Vans. With just a few clicks of your mouse, a pair of custom, unique Vans shoes could be yours.

  1. 1

Visit the website on your Internet browser. Select "Custom Shoes" from the Shop By menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. 2

Select the type of shoe you want to create from the three available options (era, slip-on and old skool) on the page.

  3. 3

Select your gender and size, click next and select a starting point for your custom Vans design on the following page. Select either black or white or select a design that best matches the design for how you'd like your shoe to look in the end. Remember, you'll be able to change the colours and pictures and this is just a starting point.

  4. 4

Choose colour options for different sections of the shoe. Add some colours and graphics by using the right-hand column on the page. Think of what outfits and clothing styles you're planning to wear with your new shoe. If this is a gift, think of favourite colours of the person you plan to give the shoes to and what that person wears usually.

  5. 5

Look at your custom Vans from all angles available (top, back and side) to make sure that you like the overall look of the shoe before you continue.

  6. 6

Click "Start Over" to choose completely different options or click "Add To Cart" to proceed to purchasing your custom Vans.

Tips and warnings
