Keeping your home's deck clean is important, otherwise no one wants to hang out or spend time there. You must be careful when choosing a deck cleaner, as many products contain chemical ingredients that could seep into surrounding soil and harm plants and other vegetation. Oxygen bleach, on the other hand, is an all-natural cleaning product that works well to effectively clean any type of deck surface.

Things you need

  • Garden hose
  • Oxygen bleach
  • Bucket
  • Nylon scrub brush or broom

  1. 1

Rinse down the deck with your garden hose, as this will remove loose build-up and soften stuck-on residue.

  2. 2

Mix 1 cup oxygen bleach and 1 gallon water in your cleaning bucket.

  3. 3

Swish either a soft broom or a nylon scrub brush into the oxygen bleach mixture.

  4. 4

Scrub over the deck with the broom or brush, and continue across the deck. Dip back into the cleaning solution as needed to keep the mop or brush wet as you clean.

  5. 5

Rinse the deck clean with your garden hose.
