Creating Halloween costumes does not have to be complicated, and this pig costume is a perfect example. Using a sweat suit, felt, pipe cleaners, canvas shoes and a little paint, you can create a quick and easy pig costume in time for Halloween. As an added benefit, this pig costume will keep the wearer warm as he or she goes trick or treating.

Take a pair of white canvas shoes outside and place them on old newspapers away from anything you don't want to get paint on. Using the pale pink spray paint, spray the shoes until they are completely pink. Keep the shoes outside under a cover and let them dry completely. Once the pink paint is dry, take out the black fabric paint and paint brush. On the toes of the shoes, paint two black pig hooves and let dry. Let the black paint dry completely before wearing.
Create a pig sweatshirt. The hood will be the most identifiable part of the costume because it will have the floppy pig ears on it. If you can't find a hooded, pale pink sweatshirt, use a pale pink stocking hat. Using fabric scissors, cut two pig ears from the pale pink felt. Mark on the hood where the ears should go and sew each ear on the hood of the sweatshirt so the ears flop down. If you want the ears to have a little more shape, make a pleat in the bottom of the ear before sewing it to the hood. To do this, fold the middle of the ear in a little and sew the fold at the bottom. Then take the whole ear and sew it onto the hood at the base of the ear. The pleat will give the ear more of a realistic shape.
To create the pig tail, cut two matching strips of pink felt. Make the felt approximately three inches wide and seven or eight inches long. Sew around the edges of the felt until you have sewn almost completely around the entire strips of fabric. Turn the fabric inside-out. (Make sure the hole is big enough to do so.) Insert a pipe cleaner into the hole of the fabric strips and sew up the hole. Sew the tail onto the pale pink sweat pants. Once the tail is sewn securely in place, curl the tail around your finger. It will remain coiled because of the pipe cleaner inside.
Once the tails and ears are sewn on, the costume is ready for Halloween. Put on the sweatpants, sweatshirt, painted shoes, pink mittens and, of course, a pig nose. Add a creative touch by applying pink face paint as well.
