How to Make an Owl Costume

Written by abigail adams | 13/05/2017

An owl costume is an easy costume to make, requiring just ah few supplies and a couple of hours. The costume may be made in any size, from infant to adult. The owl costume begins as a purchased brown hooded sweatshirt and a pair of brown sweatpants. Best of all, there is no sewing required.

Cut a simple feather shape out of the different colours of brown and tan felt. For a toddler size, approximately 200 feathers are needed. Adjust the amount as needed.

Place the sweatshirt on the table and begin gluing the feathers to it with the fabric glue.

Start at the bottom of the jacket and alternate colours of the feathers. Allow each layer of feathers to overlap the top of lower layer.

Glue the feathers to the top side of the arms, again starting at the bottom and working toward the shoulder.

Cut two circles out of a dark brown felt, approximately 3 inches in diameter. Cut two circles out of the lightest colour brown, approximately 2 inches in diameter. Cut two circles out of black felt, approximately 1 inch in diameter.

Make the eyes by layering two sets of the circles with the largest circle on the bottom and the black on top..

Glue the eyes to the top of the hood.
