How to Make a Favor Box
Favour Box (Cyndee Kromminga)

Simple cube paper boxes are a wonderful choice to hold favours for a wedding, bridal shower or ladies luncheon. They are easy enough to be made in bulk and sophisticated enough to enhance any occasion's decorations. Prepare the basic template for this favour and partner it with patterned card stock. Friends and family will be delighted to give you a hand in creating these cute little favour boxes. Plan a small get-together a few days before the main event to assemble them.

Instructions

    Prepare the Favor Box Template

  1. 1

Draw a 2-inch square in the centre of the lightweight cardboard. Attach to one side of the square three more 2-inch squares for a total of four squares. The total outside measurement is a rectangle of 2 inches wide by 8 inches long. Each square is a side of your favour box. From left to right, mark each square 1, 2, 3 and 4. Attach to square No. 4 a 1/2-inch-wide by 2-inch-long tab. This tab will connect square No. 1 with square No. 4 when the box is folded.

  2. 2

Attach a 2-inch square to the the bottom of square No. 2. Attach a 1/2-inch-wide by 2-inch-long tab to the bottom edge of this square. Attach to the top of square No. 4 a 2-inch square. Attach to the top edge of this square a 1/2-inch-wide by 2-inch-long tab. These squares and tabs are the top and bottom to your favour box.

  3. 3

Attach a 1-inch-wide by 2-inch-long rectangle to the top and bottom of square No. 1. Attach to the top and bottom of square No. 2 a 1-inch-wide by 2-inch-long rectangle. These rectangles are your favour box flaps that will fit inside the box.

  4. 4

Cut out the favour box shape. Taper each short side of each tab and flap at an angle.

  5. 5

Draw a straight dotted line along each attachment line that was made to your favour box template. These are your score-line guides.

    Making the Favor Box

  1. 1

Lay your patterned card stock wrong-side up on your table. Place the favour box template on the card stock and draw around the edge. Cut out the card stock.

  2. 2

Score a fold line along every part of the card stock that matches the dotted guidelines on the favour box template, using the ruler and bone folder.

  3. 3

Fold the favour box on every scored fold line. Apply double-stick tape to the right side of the tab on the end of square No. 4. Fold squares 1, 2, 3 and 4 and attach the tab to the inside of square No. 1. Fold down the flaps on one end of the box. Fold down the square on that same end, inserting the tab into the favour box. Turn the box over and repeat for the other end of the box.
