How to decorate a wedding car

Updated April 17, 2017

Decorating the wedding car is a long held tradition which is meant to be a surprise for the happy couple. This tradition began as a "last practical joke" that the groomsmen would pull on their pal, but has developed into an activity for all members of the wedding party to take part in. Decorating the wedding car should be planned out in advance so that it is truly a surprise to the couple and is decorated well.

Get a bottle of white shoe polish. Write messages on the windows such as "Just Married" and "Hitched."

Roll out some white streamers and cut 20 or so 1-foot long pieces. Put them all together and tape them together by wrapping tape all the way around one end. Carefully poke a hole through the centre of the one end of tape. Stick a 1-foot long piece of gift ribbon through the hole.

Tie the ribbon with attached streamers to the bumper or rear bumper of the car.

Purchase a wedding car flag and slip it over the antenna (see Resources). The flag will wave as the care is driven.

Sprinkle rose petals on the floor and back seat. Spray a few squirts of some romantic body spray to set the mood and continue the romance for the couple.

Make sure the polish you use is washable, not permanent.
