Instructions

  1. 1

Plan your design. Draw the type of design you want for your hoody on the sketch paper. Once you have a layout designed on paper, you will be able to use that as a guide to transfer your creation to your jacket. You can design it using all the colours you want to use by marking out different-coloured areas in marker of a matching colour.

  2. 2

Place the iron-on patches, with the adhesive side on the hoody, where your design dictates. Use a hot iron to transfer the patch to the hoody fabric. If you are applying more than one iron-on patch, allow each patch time to cool before moving on to the next patch. There are all different sizes of patches, so feel free to use different sizes to give your hoody some dimension.

  3. 3

Apply designs you have chosen using the glitter glue sticks. Designs can be outlined with fabric markers so as to give a more dramatic look to your hoody. You can also draw different designs, and then use glitter to add some sparkle.

  4. 4

Add some sequins or buttons for more individuality. Look at your paper design to see how you had the sequins and/or buttons arranged. It is best to lay all the buttons and sequins out on the hoody first, then pick them up one by one and apply the fabric glue to the back and press the decorative item back into place.

  5. 5

Hang your custom-designed hoody on the coat hanger. Give it plenty of time to dry completely. You should wait at least 48 hours. Now you are ready to show off your new creation. Your friends will want to design a hoody for themselves when they see how beautiful yours is.

Tips and warnings

  • Pick a hoody that is a little larger than the size that you would usually wear. This will give you extra design space and make your hoody a more flexible item of clothing because you will be able to wear it over other shirts.
  • Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot iron.
