Create your own poker chips using just about anything that you have a large quantity of, although It is preferable to use round objects. You can also create your own poker chips according to the crowd and theme of the poker night. For instance, if the poker players love candy or sweets, use skittles, m&ms, or cookies as poker chips for the night. Or if someone has a bottle cap collection, you can use those as poker chips.

As part of the poker game, especially if players are placing bets, coins can also be used as the poker chips. Players can use pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. as the chips for the game, and each value of the coin can be used as the value in the game.

  2. 2

Fashion your own poker chips out of clay. You can purchase clay at your local crafts store. Lay out some newspaper or waxed paper to protect the surface of your workspace. Lay the clay flat on the newspaper and knead it to soften it.

  3. 3

Roll the clayt out with a rolling pin to about 1 inch in thickness. Take a drinking glass and turn it upside down so that the opening of the glass is facing the clay. Press the opening of the glass into the clay, using the glass as a "cookie cutter." This will create a round shape from the clay, making your poker chips. Instead of a drinking glass, you can use something else round to cut and create a circle shape out of the clay to make your poker chips.
