How to Renew Your IP Addresses

The IP address is the specific address of your computer when connected to the Internet. When you are browsing the Internet, you might encounter a message saying that the page cannot be displayed. If you have checked your Internet connections and tried resetting your router, it is likely that you will need to renew your computer's IP address.

    Turn on your computer. When your computer fully loads up, move your cursor over the Start menu on the bottom left-hand corner of the desktop and click on it.

    Click on "All Programs" at the bottom of the Start menu. Scroll through your programs and select "Accessories."

    Click on "Command Prompt" with your left mouse button to open up the program. Choose "Run as Administrator."

    Type "ipconfig /release" into the typing area at the very bottom of the command prompt window and press "Enter." Next, type in "ipconfig /renew" and press "Enter." This will renew your IP address.

    Open up your Internet browser and try to load up a website to check that your Internet connection now works correctly.
