The Nintendo DSi XL is a handheld games console which also includes a camera and a music player. It is possible to download games onto the DSi XL. Although you will have to pay for most of the games you want to play, there are free games out there and as the owner of a Nintendo console, you qualify for free stuff from Club Nintendo.

Find the product code for your DSi XL. There are two options for getting access to Club Nintendo. One is with a PIN number, which you will find on an insert advertising Club Nintendo. This insert should have been in the box your DSi XL came in. Alternatively, look for the serial number on a sticker on the back of the DSi XL. The number is shown beneath a long bar code.
Go to the Club Nintendo UK website (see Resources). You get 250 club points, called "stars," for registering your DSi XL when you join Club Nintendo. You will also get more stars when you buy other products from the Nintendo shops, including games. On the US Nintendo site, the stars are called “coins.”
Enter the PIN or serial number in the Club Nintendo site. You will be taken to a short survey about your DSi XL. Fill that in to get the free stars. You will also get coins for any games you bought. Enter the PIN or serial number for each to increase your stars. You will have to fill in a survey each time to get the stars credited to your account.
Go to the Club Nintendo Stars Catalogue to get games by redeeming your stars. As the stars are free, this means you pay nothing for the game. You can get other free gifts in the catalogue, like stationery, accessories and gift cards. Club Nintendo will email you with special offers, new games you can get with your stars and news about your Nintendo DSi XL.
