How to replace the permanent filter of a Dyson DC18

The Dyson DC18 Slim is a lightweight upright vacuum cleaner with the cleaning power of the regular sized machine. It is manoeuvrable, easy to maintain, and takes up a third less storage space than standard sized vacuums. In addition, it is fitted with efficient long-lasting HEPA filter. However, Even though it's washable, the so-called "lifetime" permanent filter must be replaced after extended use.

Unplug the machine’s power cord from the wall outlet before removing any components.

Press the canister release button on top of the ergonomic handle and lift the canister off the vacuum cleaner.

Lower the canister into a rubbish bin and press the release catch on the front edge of the canister. The bottom cover will open and empty the contents into the bin. Tap the sides of the canister to loosen any dirt clinging to the inside walls.

Press the filter release catch at the top of the canister and open the lid. This will reveal the HEPA filter. Lift the filter out, replace it with a new one and close the canister lid.
