Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C / 375 degrees F. Slice a block of firm tofu in half. Pat dry and set aside between kitchen roll paper until most of the moisture is gone. The more water that has left the tofu, the crispier it will be. While the tofu is drying, heat a medium saucepan with olive oil. Once hot, toss in the chopped garlic and sauté for one minute. Then, pour in the crushed tomatoes, sugar, crushed red pepper flakes and stir. Let simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
While simmering, place the tofu on a baking dish and brush with sesame oil. Put in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Once the tofu is finished baking, cut in squares and add it to the tomato sauce. Serve with brown rice.
