Collaborators can use Workshare Compare or DeltaView software to compare and track the changes in multiple versions of documents. Workshare Compare provides more comprehensive features than DeltaView, which contains obsolete architecture.

DeltaView allows the comparison of RTF and DOC files. Workshare Compare adds the ability to compare Excel tables, PDFs and images. Workshare Compare also allows you to e-mail redlines; DeltaView does not. Workshare Compare provides support for Microsoft Office 2007, Windows Vista, XP and Windows 7. DeltaView provides support for Windows XP.


Workshare Compare retails for £94 in 2011. You can purchase it online or through a reseller. You can no longer purchase DeltaView. Workshare, Inc. incorporated aspects of the old DeltaView technology into newer Workshare Document Control programs.


To run Workshare Compare, a computer needs at minimum a 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 processor for Windows XP or a 3.2 GHz Pentium processor for Vista. The computer should have 1 GB of RAM and 800 MB of space on a hard drive.
