Hyundai car engine problems

Updated March 21, 2017

Hyundai car engines, like any car engine, may be prone to unique engine problems. This may be because of specific manufacturing errors or a problem with the model line. Some of the engine problems may be unique in nature, so all Hyundai owners should not consider these problems universal.

Oil Issues

Several forums, especially on Consumer Affairs, have reported that some Hyundai models experience an oil issue. Previous car owners in 2004 complained that the Hyundai engine does not adequately process engine oil correctly, causing sludge to possibly build up.

Fuel Pump

In 2008, the Hyundai Elantra saw many of its line recalled due to a fuel pump issue. The fuel pump had pressure issues, resulting in sporadic engine failure.

Electrical Issues

In 2007, the Hyundai Entourage saw a massive recall because of a faulty electrical system. It did not communicate with the braking or service brakes, causing motorists to continue driving a vehicle that required maintenance.
