Its turbocharged direct injection, or TDI, turbodiesel engines are found in its subcompact Golf, compact Jetta and Touareg SUV models, offering superior fuel economy. To keep these engines running at optimum performance, owners must select the right motor oil to maintain these vehicles.

Volkswagen Golf

The recommended motor oil for the 2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI engine is 5W-30 synthetic European blend. This engine requires 4.9 quarts total.

Volkswagen Jetta

The 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI engine and oil filter require 4.9 quarts of motor oil. Recommended weight is synthetic 5W-30 European motor oil.

Volkswagen Touareg

Including the oil filter, the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg TDI requires 8.8 quarts of motor oil. Synthetic 5W-30 European oil is recommended.

Fuel Economy

The Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Jetta both get a maximum 30mpg city, 42mpg highway with their TDI engines. The Volkswagen Touareg is rated at 18mpg city, 25mpg highway.
