Pick up a collection of clear glass ornaments after the holidays for a good deal. Place a collection of decorated balls in a bowl for a striking table decoration. Hang balls in front of a window for an interesting accent. Create customised ornaments for friends and family or to cover your own holiday tree.

Painted Glass Balls

Decorate clear glass balls with craft paint. Drizzle a few drops of paint into the ball and then swirl it around. Use one colour or multiple colours, one at a time. These glass balls have a marbleised appearance and can be made to match bedroom decor. Hang from a window frame with ribbon bows for a decorative accent.

Stained Glass Balls

Make faux-stained-glass balls to set in individual egg cups on a mantle or side table. These decorative pieces can be customised with religious images or follow a random pattern. Follow manufacturer's directions for applying stained glass lead paint. Once dry, fill in with glass paint to complete.

Etched Glass Balls

Etching cream can be applied to clear glass balls to make customised holiday Christmas balls. Try small stencils cut from clear contact paper with words such as "peace" or "joy." Use a computer word-processing program to make your own stencils with decorative fonts.

Filled Glass Balls

Glass ornaments can be filled with special objects to make personalised decorations for any occasion. Consider filling with souvenirs from a trip to the beach, like sand and tiny sea shells. Glitter, tinsel or feathers can be placed inside for a different look. Recycle costume jewellery or layer a clear glass ball with colourful seed beads. These decorative balls can be tied with a large bow or piece of feather boa and hung off a mirror, or placed in a piece of pottery.

Glitter Glass Balls

Design a collection of glittery glass balls that look like they are covered with snowflakes for a Christmas tree. Brush with glue and then roll in iridescent glitter. Other colours of glitter can be used for a different effect. Glitter glue in squeeze containers can be applied in snowflake designs.
