A plunging neckline or a backless dress can make wearing a conventional bra impractical or completely impossible. These same outfits can require, or demand, support and security. Even when wearing a bra, you may want to secure your clothing in place to prevent unwanted exposure. This can be accomplished with the use of adhesive bra tape.

Design

Adhesive bra tape is actual double sided adhesive tape that is meant and marketed to hold clothing in place when a conventional bra is not practical. The bra tape comes in many styles including pre-cut curved shapes as well as rolls that can be dispensed for a custom application. Some brands are marketed as "red carpet" tape in reference to the sexy dresses worn by stars walking the red carpet. These dresses do not stay in place all by themselves, they need a little help. Most of these tapes are either clear or nude colour so that if the tape is exposed it is likely to go unnoticed.

Plunging Neckline

With a low-cut top, you may need a little help to keep it from gaping open. Cut off 1-inch sections of tape or use the pre-cut curved pieces and apply them to the fabric. Place the material where you want it and press the tape down against your breast. Repeat this on both sides. If you have large breasts, you may need to apply multiple pieces of tape in order to get the protection you desire.

Slippery Material

Many modern materials can be slippery and do not remain in place. This can allow your bra to be exposed. You can apply short pieces of adhesive tape to your bra, then press the material against the tape. The tape should keep the material from moving.

Strapless Dress

With some strapless dresses it is desirable to make certain the dress stays in place above the bra. To accomplish this you can apply several short pieces of adhesive tape to the top section of your bra and press the dress fabric against the tape. This should prevent the fabric from sliding down and exposing your bra. You can also apply short sections of tape to your breasts and press the top of your bra against the tape to help keep the bra at the desired level.

Reminders

You should be careful not to overdo a good thing. A little tape can go a very long way and provide adequate protection. You should also remember that when the evening is done, the tape has to come off. In most cases this will be painless, however if you have sensitive skin there could be some irritation. It is possible your skin will react differently to different brands of tape. If you have a reaction to one brand of tape, try another brand the next time around.
