How to Change My Address on My V5C

The V5C is the registration certificate issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in the United Kingdom. If your name or address changes, it is important that you inform the DVLA immediately so your registration remains up to date and the DVLA sends the renewal reminder for your V11 to the correct address. Changing the address on your V5C is a simple process that requires no fees.

  1. Find section 6 on your registration certificate. This section is located on the second page and it includes the fields in which you will need to enter your new address information. Keep in mind that you cannot use a Post Office box unless you are a company or corporate body.

  2. Locate section 8 on your registration certificate, then sign and date the "Declaration" box.

  3. Send the registration certificate to: DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA. A new registration certificate will be issued for free and mailed back to you within four to six weeks.
