How to whiten silicone bathroom sealer caulk

Over time, silicone bathroom caulk will become dirty and stained. This will create the illusion that your bathroom is old and dingy. Whitening the silicone bathroom caulk removes stains and restores the bathroom's look. Chlorine bleach is a common product used to whiten caulking and grout. However, chlorine bleach contains harsh chemicals that can discolour a variety of surfaces. Instead, use oxygen bleach--which has all the benefits of chlorine, without the risks--to clean and whiten silicone bathroom caulk.

  1. Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Add 1 cup of oxygen bleach to the water and mix with a wooden spoon.

  2. Dip an old toothbrush in the mixture. Scrub the caulk with the saturated toothbrush.

  3. Fill a spray bottle with the mixture. Spray the caulk liberally. Leave the mixture on the caulk for 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. Scrub the caulk with the toothbrush. Continue applying the mixture to the caulk and scrubbing until the caulking is clean and white.

  5. Rinse the caulk by wiping with a clean cloth dampened with cool water.
