The Parent Trap, a Walt Disney classic, was recreated in 1998 starring Lindsey Lohan as the twin girls, Dennis Quaid as the father, and Natasha Richardson as the mother. When Annie, a character in the story, comes back from camp, she is greeted by the family butler, Martin. Annie and Martin then proceed through a special handshake that they created for each other. Learn what's involved in recreating this handshake, step by step.
Face the opposite person at about arm's length away. Extend your right hand and shake hands with partner twice.
While grasping hands, switch positions and close hands around your partner's thumb. The position around the hand should look similar to a grasp used to arm wrestle. Lift up and "throw" or dramatically pull hands back.
Stick right hand out again, fingers closed, palm flat, facing toward the ground. Arm is fully extended about chest length. Your friend will do the same, stacking his hand on top of yours. Repeat with left hands. The stack will consist of your right hand on the bottom and your friend's left hand on top.
Put your right hand down and stick your left hand out; at the same time your partner should do the same. Slap the back of your hand with your partner's hand, palms facing away from each other. Keep your hands in this position, while taking the right hand and slapping your partner's right hand, palms facing toward each other. The right-hand slap should be directly above the left-hand position.
Simultaneously slap your left hand with your right hand as your partner does the same with his hand. Keep your left-hand position the same as you move your right hand directly below your left hand and slap palms again with partner.
Bring your left hand below your right hand and slap your partner's palm. Then repeat, bringing the right hand below the left hand and slapping palms again.
Draw your hands away from your partner, hop up and simultaneously pivot your body to the side and bump your left hip with your partner's left hip. Hop, pivot and bump your right hip with your partner's right hip.
Face directly opposite your partner again and bend your knees while bringing your hand up under your chin. Bend your elbows perpendicular to the floor and interlace your fingers and wiggle them while your knees are bent. Your partner should mirror your actions as you perform them.
Put your hands down, stand up and take one long step left of your partner as your partner does the same. Pivot and face each other again.
Stick your right hand out again at arm's length from your partner and shake hands twice. This completes the "Parent Trap" handshake.
