How to Create MSN Hotmail Account

Updated April 17, 2017

MSN Hotmail, also currently called as Windows Live Hotmail, is a web-based e-mail service provided by Microsoft. It is used by people to communicate with their families, friends, relatives and business contacts. It offers a storage of 5 GB that automatically increases when needed. It also gives you the power to consolidate all your e-mail accounts, even from other providers. You can either make a folder for each account or put them all in your MSN Hotmail inbox.

  1. Go to the Hotmail website to create MSN Hotmail account. Click on the "Sign up" button.

  2. Type your Windows Live ID, and select if you want to use "Live.com" or "Hotmail.com" by using the drop-down menu. It will say if your Windows Live ID is available or not.

  3. Create a password and retype it to confirm. Make a strong password to protect your personal information. It should have seven to 16 characters with a combination of upper case and/or lower case letters, numbers and special characters.

  4. Enter your alternate e-mail address or choose a security question. This information is used to reset your password, if necessary.

  5. Give your first and last names, and use the drop-down menu to select your country or region. If prompted, select your state and enter your postcode.

  6. Input your birth year and verification code and indicate your gender. Read the Website's Terms of Use and Privacy policy by clicking on the "Microsoft service agreement" and "Privacy statement," then click the "I Accept" button.
