How to Turn a Flashing Red Light Off on a JVC TV

Updated February 21, 2017

A flashing red light on a JVC television means the TV timer function is activated. When set, the programmable clock will automatically turn on and shut off the television at predetermined times. If this feature is accidentally activated (often by children playing with the remote control), the red light on the front panel may begin flashing mysteriously. Follow these steps to turn it off.

  1. Press Menu on the front control panel of the JVC TV or the remote control.

  2. Use the up and down arrow buttons to scroll through a list of on-screen options until you reach On/Off Timer.

  3. Press the right arrow key.

  4. Scroll down to the On/Off Timer function in the middle of the screen and press the right arrow key to highlight the word No.

  5. Press the bottom arrow key to highlight the word "Finish", then press the right arrow key to complete to procedure for switching off the timer.

  6. Unplug the JVC television from the power supply for at least 10 minutes if the light continues to flash. A 10-minute disconnection from the power will cause the JVC television to reset to the factory settings, clearing the memory and shutting off the timer function. You will have to reset your preferred picture and audio options, as well as the TV's built-in clock after plugging the set back into the wall.
