Do it yourself: mesotherapy

Updated April 07, 2017

Mesotherapy is a non-surgical treatment for the reduction of cellulite and its appearance. A do-it-yourself (DIY) treatment of mesotherapy requires you or your friend to inject the surface of your skin with a mixture of medication, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. You can purchase DIY mesotherapy kits online.

Administering Injections

The needle used in DIY mesotherapy, is similar to that of an acupuncture needle. Make sure you practice and are comfortable and capable of properly injecting yourself.

How Mesotherapy Works

According to CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta "They actually inject a chemical in the skin layer and this chemical of medications over time will---actually it's supposed to any way---burn away some of the fat underneath the skin layer. It actually dissolves some of that fat." Mesotherapy treatments at a clinic costs more than liposuction, the average cost is £3,900.00. So many people are attempting DIY mesotherapy to reduce costs.

Talk to your Medical Doctor

Let your medical doctor know that you are planning on administering DIY mesotherapy. Your doctor knows your medical history, and what medications you are taking if any, and he will be able to best advise you, if this is something you should stay away from or pursue.

Sterilised Equipment and Surroundings

Be very careful when you choose a location to conduct DIY mesotherapy. Ensure that you have selected a room that is clean, and that your needles and any other tools you are utilising are sterile.

Purchasing DIY Mesotherapy Kits

A DIY mesotherapy kit is expensive, if you find one that isn't, be careful, as the kit more than likely is not a safe one to purchase. It may be expired, substandard or ineffective. Each vial sold ranges from £19.50 to £117.00. It is best that you consult with a specialist prior to purchasing your DIY mesotherapy kit.

For those who are allergic to soybeans, you cannot use DIY mesotherapy. Mesotherapy is not recommended for those who are severely overweight.
