Winter wedding table decorations can range from huge, formal arrangements to whimsical items that cause you to recall your favourite holiday memories. Decorate your tables to reflect the colours and style of your winter wedding, whether you've chosen a traditional red and green Christmas theme, silver and blue winter wonderland or modern navy and silver colour scheme.

Dress up traditional white linens with a colourful runner that complements your wedding. Use a silver, ice blue or ice pink runner over white tablecloths for a winter wonderland look. Mix darker or brighter colours if you want a warmer look. Bright red tablecloths can set the scene for a Christmas wedding or ivory tablecloths with a gold runner work for a more formal look. Include linen napkins and chair covers or tulle bows in a complementary colour.

Centrepieces typically command much of your guests' attention, particularly upon entering your wedding reception. Put together centrepieces that reflect your colours, theme and style. Miniature Christmas trees, whether live or silk, work for a few different themes. Use a white tree for a winter wonderland, a green tree for a traditional Christmas theme or an ice blue or pink theme for a modern winter wonderland. Trees can include battery-operated strings of lights and ornaments ranging from glass bulbs to crystal snowflakes or silver picture frames. Take care of favours by giving guests an ornament. Build your own tree by spray painting dead twigs or small branches in a colour that works for your wedding, such as silver or white. Hang clear glass bulbs, strings of pearls, white feather boas or other ornaments for a twinkling effect. Secure the branches in a large urn or pot with rocks or sand. Poinsettias, white roses or carnations are all appropriate for winter wedding centrepieces. Mix in colours by choosing darker, jewel-toned flowers such as deep purples or dark reds. Light up your tables with floating candles, pillar candles surrounded by a wreath or other candle arrangements. Cover the table with a multitude of votive candles and glittery snowflake confetti or clear stones to reflect the candlelight and create a soft and romantic ambience. Fill tall glass vases or jars with colourful bulbs, clear glass bulbs or styrofoam spheres painted a glittery white or silver for a fast and simple option. Build a stack of holiday gifts wrapped in shiny paper with the top box holding a floral arrangement.

Place Settings

Place mats can add colour to your tables if you opt to use them in lieu of a runner. Alternatively, chargers--over-sized plates used under dinner plates or dessert plates for decorations--can add colour and texture to your tables. Copper or silver chargers will add interest and colour, as well as reflect light from candles. Plain white china or dinnerware with silver, gold, red, green or blue patterns can complement your linens and colours. Gold, silver or crystal goblets can hold a colourful napkin. Leave a small, shiny, gift-wrapped treat for your guests on top of their plates in coordinating colours.
