When sewing a button onto a pair of pants, mark the place for the button with a pin before you start sewing. Learn to sew a button onto pants with help from a seamstress in the free video on sewing basics.
Hello, my name is Linda DiSimone. I'm a designer and a seamstress, and I'm here to show you how to sew a button on a pair of pants. The things that you will need is your pants, the button, thread that matches, a needle and a scissor. Step one is to double thread your needle and make a knot at the end. Get your button and mark off the place with a pin where you want your button to go. Okay, step two is to sew on your button. From the underside of the pants, put your needle where your pin is so you can find out exactly just where you are going to be having your sewing on your button. Take your button, put it through the hole of the button. This one has two holes, buttons vary in how many holes they have. This one has two so come on the front of the button and put your needle through the second hole and then you go back through to the back of the pants, pull it through, come back again to the front through the hole. Again, go into the next hole from the top. When you are underneath you can wind the thread around a couple of times. That gives it a little bit more security and then go back through where you were before to the back. Take a little bit of the fabric with you, again to secure it more tightly, put your needle through the loop to make a knot. Make one more knot then cut it off. That's how you sew the button on your pants. My name is Linda DiSimone, and thanks for watching this video.
