So have you ever been curious and wanting to know what the different types of problems are that you can have with partial dentures? Well my name is Michelle and I'm a dental assistant with Solutionz and I'm going to talk to you today about the problems that you can have when it comes to your partial dentures. This is a model of what a basic actual denture looks like and over a period of time usually if you have had it for several years, usually around five to seven years, what happens is due to the fact that you function with it, you are chewing with it so you are putting a lot of pressure on the partial is and actually on the clasps too is either the acrylic on the partial which is the pink colored look here can actually crack in half or start breaking off or the clasp itself that is attached to the partial that hooks on to your natural tooth that can actually break off because it is a very thin piece of metal so therefore you always want to be careful that you are not really chomping away on Jaw Breakers because you are just going to aid in creating a crack into the partial. So you definitely want to be careful when you are wearing them. But what normally happens is over a period of time you actually start to get cracks in them. The clasps can start breaking off or you can start grinding on them with your natural teeth and start grinding down the occlusal part of the actual partial teeth. So definitely if any of these situations occur you definitely want to go to your general dentist because therefore he would be able to repair it for you a lot easier than what you would be able to do at home. Once again my name is Michelle. I'm a dental assistant with Solutionz and I just explained to you what happens with your partial dentures.
