Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today, I'm going to show you how to write computer code. We're going to use a program called Python for this which is an actual little programming language that's free and downloadable, and you can do small things with this or you can do huge enterprise things that control very large systems. So, let's go to our computer and the first thing we're going to do is download and install Python. Just click on your Start button and open your Internet Explorer browser, and go to and just search for Python. Now, probably the very first one that'll come up is so just click on that. Now, from Python's website click Download, and then scroll down until you can find the Python Windows Installer. That's going to download and install Python to your computer, and it'll allow you to write the programs we're going to be writing here. So, let's close this out. I already have Python installed. Once you have it installed click on your Start button, go to All Programs. Let's find Python, and then open up Python GUI called Idle. Now, from here go to File and click on New Window. This is basically your code editing screen, and the Python language is very simple to learn. You can surf the Internet for examples and tutorials on how to use it. I'm just going to write just a real simple program here. I equals 5, we're going to say print I, 4I in range 020 print I. Now, what this program will do is it'll print out the number 5 which we're assigning to the variable I, and then it'll do a 4 loop from 0 to 20 and it'll print out the value that's assigned in that range which should print out the numbers 0 to 19. So, let's actually go to run, and click on run module from here. You have to save it first so click OK. I'm going to save my program as my simple program, and click Save. Now, over here in your main screen, as you can see, it has printed out 5, and then it's printed out the numbers in the range that I supplied from 0 to 19. There's a lot more that you can do with Python then just printing out numbers. You can do complex mathematical calculations, file operations, Internet work, but I'll leave that up for you. And you now have the system with which you can write programming code. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you how to write computer code.
