Hi! My name is Danny and I am from Tampa, Florida and today on behalf of Expert Village, I am going to show you how to use and maintain a bench grinder. Okay I am going to talk about the wire wheels on the bench grinder. Typically they have three different types of wheels you can get; coarse, medium and fine wire wheels. You usually use wire wheels to semi polish or clean material. You can go from a dull pipe and you can hit it with a wire wheel. It will give it a little shine. You can also use the wire wheel to be deburn and clean dirt and any contaminants on material on aluminum, stainless and mild steel. The wire wheel also comes in different sizes. It depends on the bench grinder that you have, you can get the 6 inch, the 8, the 10 or the 12 and you can actually use these and put them on hand held grinders too. You want to make sure that you have your safety glasses on especially with this because these little pieces of wire like to shoot and they will hit you in the face. So try to actually wear a face shield when you are using the wire wheels.
