The Yaesu FT-100 is a transceiver, which you use to transmit and receive signals in all amateur radio bands. It works at home, getting power from an electrical socket, or when mounted in a vehicle for mobile use, getting power from the vehicle's battery. Use it to search for frequencies with interesting broadcasts, and when you find ones you like, you can save them to the memory bank. Press the "Pwr" button and hold it for a half-second to turn on the FT-100. It is designed to be held briefly so that you don't accidentally turn it on or off by bumping the button.
Press the "VFO/MR" button on the front panel once to switch it to variable frequency oscillator (VFO) mode. Pressing the "VFO/MR" button again sets it to "MR" (memory) mode. When it is in "MR" mode, the "Mem" icon will appear in the display.
