If your assignment is to write a funny persuasive essay but you don't know where to start, you might be tempted to use standard, stale topics. Instead, think outside the box with humorous, lighthearted topics. Test some out on your family, friends and coworkers. If any spark a good-natured, spirited debate, choose a side and start writing to persuade others to see things from your point of view.

Clothed Pets

Persuade the reader that pets should wear clothes. Regardless of what types of pets people have, maintain that those pets should be dressed. Discuss reasons why the animals want to be clothed, why the public would like to see pets dressed up and the different outfits pets could wear for certain occasions and outings.

College Student Uniforms

Persuade the reader that college students should wear school uniforms. Suggest various uniform ideas, from black tie formal to matching jumpsuits to flannel pyjamas. Convince the reader why each uniform is a good idea, listing the benefits.

Cats on Leashes

Persuade the reader that cat owners should take their pets for walks on leashes. Offer arguments such as cats prefer the safety of a leash, leashes offer lots of opportunity for style and flair, and walking cats on leashes could become a hot new trend.

Good Luck Charm

Persuade the reader he has the power to become a good luck charm for his favourite sports team. Convince him he should wear a specific hat, shirt or lucky pair of socks every game day to help the team win. Devise other behaviours the reader can use to influence his team's luck.

Head Shaving

Persuade the reader that all men should shave their heads. Present such arguments as women find men with smooth heads attractive, it's trendy to be hairless and having a bald head is more sanitary.

Walmart vs. Bloomingdale's

Persuade the reader that Walmart is a classier store than Bloomingdale's or any other high-end department store in your area. Compare store inventory, customers and employees to convince the reader that Walmart is the place to go for a first-class shopping experience.
